Tour de Forest Artisans Tour — August 4th & 5th 2012

The Tour de Forest is happening this weekend in the Haliburton Highlands, Ontario, Canada. Explore the scenic route and discover studios along the way. See the artists at work in their studios and meet their guest artisans.   This year, the Tour features 28 local artists, displaying work at 10 studios speckled around the Haliburton Highlands.

The Haliburton Highlands is truly an artistic community with an abundance of talented artists living and working in this awe inspiring environment of lakes, rivers, rocks and trees. It’s worth a trip to the Haliburton Highlands this weekend to experience “the natural work of art” while indulging yourself with treasures that are made with love by such creative people.

While in the area drop in to the new www.MadeInHaliburton.ca Gallery in Minden at the cross-roads of Bobcaygeon Road and Water Street (115 Bobcaygeon Road). You can preview the work of some of the artists on the Tour de Forest and also see the work of other local artists who are not on the tour.

Walk By Water By Carole Finn — Two Trails, Two Determined Men

Carole Finn documents through words, photos and paintings, the journey of two determined men who each had, to quote the back jacket of the book, “great foresight and determination to make these trails happen”. The trails of which she speaks are the Pacific Rim Trail in British Columbia and the Minden Wild Water Preserve in Minden Hills, Ontario.

The book takes you on the journey of these two men and gives you a pictorial representation of their achievements..These trails are certainly Canadian gems that are a must see for the visiting public and local citizen alike. The book can be purchased on MadeInHaliburton.ca or in the MadeInHaliburton.ca summer gallery location at 115 Bobcaygeon Rd., Minden, On.

Bid on Tickets for Jim Cuddy Trio at The Forest Festival

If you love Jim Cuddy and want a chance for a meet and greet with Jim plus 2 tickets to the sold out show at The Forest Festival on August 16th at 8pm.  then you better read on …

Thanks to the kindness of a local resident there are two tickets being auctioned off using the new www.MadeInHaliburton.ca auction feature. In addition to the tickets the “winner” of the auction item will get to meet Jim Cuddy, have preferred seating for an event that does not have designated seating, and receive a Haliburton Forest poster that is signed by Jim Cuddy. The concert takes place at the Bone Lake Amphitheatre which is a truly magical setting for an outdoor concert. There is a floating stage on a lake in the middle of a forest. The stars twinkle above and the air is crisp and clear. The music resonates with the natural environment in a way that is simply not able to be described — it must be experienced.

Better yet, the proceeds from this auction will go to the Volunteer Dental Outreach Program. This program offers dental services to people in the Haliburton Highlands who would otherwise be unable to afford such care.

Please consider bidding on this auction item and helping out the Volunteer Dental Outreach Program.
