Highlands Summer Festival 2012: Looking Ahead
The summer theatre season is just around the corner. The Highlands Summer Festival opens the 2012 season with a musical about painter Tom Thomson, Colours in the Storm. This year marks the anniversary of his first visit to Algonquin Park and the love affair that blossomed between Tom and Canada’s north. The affair resulted in paintings that helped define a young nation’s identity and made a national icon out of this talented painter. The musical, Colours in the Storm, recounts the intensity Thomson brought to his work and life. Through drama, haunting music and song, we follow his experiences through to his tragic and mysterious death on Canoe Lake. Colours in the Storm opens July 2 and runs through to the 6th and then July 11 to 13. For tickets, call 705-457-9933.
