About the Artist:Lois Raw was born and raised in Toronto where she attended university and taught school. She has worked and traveled in Africa and Northern Canada. She now resides in Haliburton, in an old stone schoolhouse, surrounded by forests and wildlife. About Her Art:Lois has had a lifelong interest in visual art, and has worked in watercolour, oil, acrylic, tempera and most recently, pastel. She has received many awards for her pastels, including the Abstract Award from the Pastel Artists of Canada in 2009. Her work has also been featured in a video entitled "Minden Raw". In 2010, Lois was one of three artists invited to take part in a show at The Agnes Jamison Gallery in Minden, Ontario. In 2011 she was given a solo show at the Rails End Gallery in Haliburton. Pastel as a medium has allowed Lois' work to retain the immediacy and spontaneity of a sketch. The ancient and pulsing landscape of Haliburton provides endless inspiration. The video "Minden Raw" depicts Lois' art techniques as she created scenes from Minden, Ontario, Canada. Click any of the pictures below for a full description |
