Rickie Woods

About the Artist:

Rickie began potting 37 years ago while working for Sir Sandford Fleming College in Cobourg.  Pottery was being offered as a general interest course with instructor Wayne Cardinelli.  Rickie loved potting from the first time she put her hands on clay!  When she and her family moved to Haliburton in 1978 she enrolled in the workshop being offered at The Haliburton School of the Arts (then known as Sir Sandford Fleming College).  Many courses and workshops followed.  In 1982, a business opportunity was proposed for the production of flower pots and a studio was established in Rickie’s home.  The venture into flower pot production fell by the side but Rickie knew there was a market for her pottery so Rickie began producing pottery that she felt was desirable. At the time, Rickie was a stay at home mom with four children so the opportunity to work from home was welcome.  Rickie is active in the arts community of Haliburton County and has continued to take courses and workshops.  She has been an active member of the Haliburton County Studio Tour since the beginning in 1988.

About Her Art:

Rickie’s main focus has been to produce functional pottery pieces that are made to be used and enjoyed!
