About the Artist:
W.J. (Bill) Cornwall has been associated with the Haliburton Highlands for most of his life. He first came to know and love this area as a child with his family, during summer vacations at Drag Lake Lodge. As a result, when he and his wife, Gail, decided to buy a cottage, they bought one on Drag Lake. They were seasonal residents until 1998 when Bill retired from the legal profession in Toronto and became a permanent resident allowing him to persue his love of painting, fishing, and exploring in this beautiful area of Canada. Bill has always been interested in painting and nature. Living here in the Haliburton Highlands has allowed him the opportunity of combining these interests. He is essentially a self taught artist but has benefited from several workshop courses at the Haliburton School Of The Arts.
About His Art:
The subject of most of Bill's paintings is the beauty and serenity of the Haliburton Highlands, Algonquin Park, and other similar wilderness areas. He likes to paint the effects of light on the lakes, streams, forest areas and old buildings in all seasons through the mediums of water colour, oil, and acrylic paints.
